Safety and accessibility

Standards are translated into product decisions, interfaces, tests and records.

EEE uses the relevant standard as an engineering basis. Final conformity depends on the selected configuration, local requirements, installation, verification and project documentation. Certification is claimed only when an issued certificate supports it.

EN 81-20

Passenger and goods passenger lift safety

Defines safety rules for the construction and installation of lifts, including car, landing, shaft, doors and protection requirements.

EN 81-50

Design rules, calculations and tests

Defines examinations, calculations and tests for lift components used alongside EN 81-20.

EN 81-70

Accessibility

Addresses accessible lift dimensions, controls, signals and usability for people, including people with disabilities.

EN 81-28

Remote alarm

Covers two-way communication and remote alarm arrangements for passengers who become trapped.

EN 81-72

Firefighters lifts

Applies where the building fire strategy calls for a firefighters lift and requires specific protected operation.

ISO 25745

Energy performance

Provides methods to measure, verify and classify the energy performance of lifts, escalators and moving walks.
